fall, farmington, ct, connecticut, new england, foliage, maple, orange

I took this photograph earlier this week while on a leisurely walk through the historic district in Farmington, CT. I spent a couple of hours slowly wandering the streets of the district while practicing with my camera, taking pictures of pumpkins, stone walls, white picket fences and of course the historic architecture.

As I reached the end of one particular street, I had to turn either left or right. But straight ahead of me was this charming home, absolutely radiant with the bright orange foliage on the tree and covering the landscape. The sunlight filtered through the trees creating a stunning reflection on the French doors leading into the home.

All I could think to myself was “this is fall in New England”. I shared this image on social media yesterday and by the end of the day it became my most liked, commented and shared image ever. I hope you enjoy it, too.

    1. Yes, September is too early unfortunately! It’s really about a 3-4 week window and it changes a bit every year depending on the weather variables and can be quite different in VT vs. CT, for example. Hope you can come back!! Columbus Day weekend (around the 10th or 12th) is usually a very safe bet 🙂

    1. If only! I think I may have captured it just in time! With all of the rain and wind yesterday I’m sure many of the leaves are off that tree now! Thank you Nora!
